This Privacy Policy explains how Caila Ltd ("caila", "we", "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the caila mobile application.

1. Who We Are

Caila Ltd is the data controller responsible for your personal data. We are registered in Ireland. Contact: privacy@caila.cloud

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide

• Account information: name, username, email, nationality, current city
• Content you create: posts (Events, Happenings, Trips, Floats), photos, recommendations
• Social connections: friends, Close Friends list, Crews

2.2 Location information

• City-level location if you enable "Show my current location"
• Automatic visit tracking (optional, "Always On" location access)
• Photo geotag import (on-device processing only)

2.3 Device and usage information

• Device model, OS version, push notification token
• Usage data and crash logs

2.4 Calendar and photo access

Optional. Calendar events are not stored on our servers. Photos are only uploaded when you explicitly select them.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Providing the app and social features
• Calculating overlaps between your plans and your friends'
• Sending push notifications (controllable in Settings)
• Safety, integrity, and legal compliance

4. How We Share Your Information

Sharing is governed by the privacy setting you choose for each post (All Friends, Close Friends, Crew, Tagged, Only Me). We use Google Firebase for infrastructure. We do not sell personal data.

5. Your Rights

Under GDPR and UK GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, and object to processing of your data. To exercise these rights: privacy@caila.cloud. You may also complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.

6. Data Retention

Data is retained while your account is active. Deletion requests are processed within 30 days. Backup systems may retain data for up to 90 additional days.

7. International Transfers

Data is stored on Google Cloud, which may include locations outside the EEA, covered by Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK IDTA.
